ARTIST TALKS is a series of conversations that offer the community a chance to meet the artists-in-residence at Zaratan and to gain insight into the creative process.
During this encounter, Sorcha McNamara e Paige Taul will introduce their artistic practice and will be available to lead visitors on a discussion around the creation imaginary and the pieces under construction during their time in Lisbon.
The conversation will be held in English; participants are invited to engage and ask questions. 

BIOS:
>>>SORCHA MCNAMARA is a visual artist living and working in Mayo, Ireland, and other places. She holds an MA in Art + Research Collaboration at IADT Dún Laoghaire (2024) and a BA in Fine Art - Painting from Limerick School of Art & Design (2019). Previous solo exhibitions include ‘Fathomless Arms’, Ballina Arts Centre, Mayo (2023); ‘(dis)attachments’, The Hyde Bridge, Sligo (2022) and Oonagh Young Gallery, Dublin (2022). Her practice has been supported by the Arts Council of Ireland and Mayo County Council Arts Office. Sorcha has previously undertaken residencies at Leitrim Sculpture Centre (2024); Totaldobze Art Centre, Riga (supported by Ormston House, Limerick and the Artist-Run Network Europe project, 2022); Tangent Projects, Barcelona (2021); and PADA Studios, Lisbon (2020). Collections include The Office of Public Works, Dublin; The Hunt Museum, Limerick; as well as private collections in Europe and the UK.

>>> PAIGE TAUL is an Oakland, CA native who received her B.A. in Studio Art with a concentration in cinematography from the University of Virginia and her M.F.A in Moving Image from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Her work engages with and challenges assumptions of black cultural expression and notions of belonging through experimental cinematography. Her interests lie in observing environmental and familial connections to concepts tied to race-based expectations and to expose those boundaries of identity in veins such as religion, style, language, and other black community based experiences.
She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Film, Video, New Media, and Animation at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
