PROJECT:

Automated & Sugar Free | Alice's multidisciplinary work embodies an attraction/repulsion dynamic that aims to undermine representations of body, beauty and gender in social media and popular culture.

During her reisdency at Zaratan, Alice has developed a new series of painting, drawing and collage that play with an obsessive representation of the female figure.

For contemporary artists, drawing is often a process more than a medium, and this is the case of Alice, who is examining here the idea of being ‘machine-like’ and its impact on the practice of making art, by using her left hand to draw and repeatedly reproducing a same subject.
In an oscillation between artificiality and authenticity, a personality emerges to bother the
status quo, disturbing the male gaze, and questioning the sexual identity.
