In response to Zaratan's invitation, Pedro Gramaxo takes on the role of artist-curator and presents Leite Derramado, a collective exhibition with works by Fábio Cunha, Frederico Brizida, Luísa Cunha, Pedro Cabrita Paiva, Pedro Gramaxo and Sara & André.
Starting from a dialogue about the daily life, the archives and the imagination in times of pandemic, the exhibition establishes bridges between artistic making and resilience and questions the different ways in which the artist is called upon to prepare responses in the face of catastrophe. Exhibitions, shows and cultural events were the first to be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. From music to books, through theater or the visual arts, thousands of artists and professionals in the field have seen their events and occupations being canceled or postponed.
In this scenario, and despite the impossibility of contacting the public, artists continue to exercise the daily rigor of artistic production, in a domestic and daily repetition that escapes the fulfillment of preconceived tasks and processes.
Leite Derramado presents stories, gestures, works and projects that emerged in the midst of forced confinement; takes the systemic flaw of the lack of support for culture as a given; considers artistic practice as a necessity or a primary and essential good - like bread or milk, taxed at 6%.
There is a dairy scenario and in the process of cure: white, emptiness, liquid, silence, sourness. Composed of mostly white works, the exhibition occupies the gallery with a non-existent concept, as if the gallery itself were empty, with pieces from different production contexts.
