Zaratan is pleased to present Ecce Mono, a solo exhibition by Fábio Colaço.
The reality / truth dichotomy has been questioned in the works of the artist. His practice uses various means such as video, installation, photography or performance, to investigate the mechanisms of production of truth present in the current reality; like these often invisible mechanisms, may be related to the construction of subjectivity. In this exhibition, the famous failed restoration of the painting "Ecce Homo" by Elías García Martínez, is taken as a starting point for a non-linear questioning around the notion of "ideal beauty", suggesting other concepts such as Reproduction, Intention, Authorship and History.
The famous phrase "Nothing is lost, nothing is created, everything is transformed" by Antoine Lavousier, seems to apply to Art, with regard to the human need to build and rebuild the reality that surrounds
BIO: Fábio Colaço (1995) lives and works in Lisbon.
He obtained a degree in sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon and a master's degree in Multimedia Art from the same institution.
