SUBSTRATO #1
Ângela Fonseca | «Déjà vu»
Ângela Fonseca | «Déjà vu»
February 13 - March 2, 2025
We are pleased to present «Déjà vu», an installation by Ângela Fonseca, which establishes an intimate dialogue with the space that houses it. Ângela Fonseca's artistic practice, fundamentally sculptural, combines traditional and technological elements: it appropriates the aesthetics of Minimalism and Arte Povera, sometimes adding a sonic, sometimes kinetic dimension to her works. Composed of organic forms, in continuous vibration by the presence of direct current motors, the installation presents itself as a living organism, which accumulates several layers of meaning, where the materials themselves (latex and coal) assume a narrative and symbolic dimension.
«Déjà vu» by Ângela Fonseca is the first episode of SUBSTRATO, a new exhibition series at Zaratan that aims to foster artistic productions designed specifically for a particular space within Zaratan, namely the micro-amphitheater located in the gallery's black box. This concave structure becomes the central focus of the project. The close relationship with the space, the environment, and the architecture is an essential element of the presented works, which can be properly defined as site-specific.
