We are pleased to present FOOTPRINT, an exhibition celebrating ten years of artistic production through an extensive collection of risograph posters produced by Zaratan.
The exhibition brings together around 200 works produced between 2014 and 2024 by over 150 national and international artists from a wide range of artistic fields.
Produced in small editions of 25 to 30 copies, these printed materials emerge as extensions of the collaborations, artistic residencies, performances, or concerts of the artists involved. They intend to solidify often ephemeral and transitory experiences, leaving a tangible trace – a footprint – that encapsulates the creative energy of unique artistic processes.
This collection reveals some strategies that characterize Zaratan's modus operandi:

  1. Anonymity – as a way to detach artists from authorship issues.

  2. Experimentation – manifested in the invitation to artists from different fields – musicians, writers, performers – to venture into visual creation, activating innovative and unexpected dialogues.

  3. Interdisciplinarity – In addition to showcasing a large number of visual artists, the archive provides a glimpse into Zaratan's research in the field of independent music: many of the works on display were created for concerts and draw inspiration from the sound of musicians, bands, and experimental sound projects.

Guided by cross-references between textual, audio, and visual materials, the resulting exhibition is configured as a succession of layers of memories, themes, and relationships, documenting a decade-long trajectory.
