«Lápis Vermelho» is a collective exhibition that considers freedom of expression as one of the foundations of democratic regimes and explores the signs and symbols that characterize revolutionary ideology and protest actions (posters, caricatures, slogans, flags, murals). It features the participation of António Olaio, Cristina Motta, João Fonte Santa, José Smith Vargas, Paulo Mendes, Petra Preta, Primeira Desordem, ROD, Teresa Dias Coelho, Tiago Baptista, and brings together a series of works that address universal issues linked to the protection of the values of democratic societies and the development of a collective conscience.

The opening day, which is also the anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, will be a day of celebration, with intervening music and conviviality. On this occasion we will present the materials produced in activities carried out with schools: a survey of oral histories, where the question «Where were you on 25 April 1974?» is directed by children to their families and a mural painted in the Zaratan courtyard, also carried out in collaboration with the school population.

The exhibition is accompanied by 2 workshops for children (4 May, 11:00 and 15:00) led by Mariana Ramos and a guided tour (19 May, 17:00) with the presence of a Portuguese sign language interpreter.
