Guided Tour with SABAPRODAKTION

March 21, 2026 (6:30 PM)
Free entry

We invite you to a meeting with the SABAPRODAKTION project regarding their site-specific exhibition Cardboard Noise, currently on view at Zaratan.
The talk will be an opportunity to explore the artistic practice of a subjectivity that, since 2006, has sought to blur the boundaries between the individual and the collective. The dialogue will focus on the theoretical and formal premises of the exhibition, where cardboard is investigated as a medium for critical subversion and visual noise , but also as an "automatic" printing matrix that opens perception to pseudo-figurative dimensions of free interpretation.
On this occasion, there will be the launch of an original fanzine, printed in a limited edition of 50 numbered and signed copies. This publication serves as an extension of the works on display, returning to SABAPRODAKTION's roots in independent publishing and the underground circuit.
During the session, the artist will be available to answer questions from the public. The meeting will feature a Portuguese Sign Language (LGP) interpreter.

BIOGRAPHY: SABAPRODAKTION is a visual project active since 2006, which aims to blur the boundaries between the individual and the collective, functioning as an undefined subject in action/production. Its first output was a D.I.Y. comic fanzine called MEKONG, launched in Bologna (IT) and distributed directly on the streets and through underground networks. It was published (ir)regularly until 2010, from issue #00 to #07. Since then, the project has developed in multiple directions. Serial construction pieces and industrial scraps, spray-painted rather than used as stencils, were installed—and abandoned—in the urban landscape as extemporaneous city installations; the filmed process and photographic documentation became the material shared online and printed in other fanzines ("Situazioni urbane"). An original style of totemic abstract painting was developed, spread across the walls of social centers, clubs, record stores, and performance venues, as well as public spaces, also serving as material for experimental video production. The "hairy bone"—the project's extreme visual synthesis—also began to spread through flyers, clothing, and the urban landscape across Europe. Close collaboration with the London-based collective Workin'Klass Noize since 2011 led to a deeper exploration of post-industrial/noise aesthetics, resulting in new serial works—Ikea collages, "analoglitches," and the cardboard printing technique—which have been featured in various fanzines and video experiments, the latter being his main ongoing visual investigation.
