Patrycja Maksylewicz | DECH (BREATH)
Individual drawing and meditation session

As part of her residency project at Zaratan, Patrycja Maksylewicz invites you to join an individual drawing and meditation session.
During the individual session we will create individual digital print (a kind of biometric portrait) for each of the participants, based on their biodata (breath data). Each participant will receive the generated digital graphic in an email.

Eachdrawing session lasts approximately 20 minutes. It begins with a short talk introducing the premise of the exercise. I then fasten a breathing sensor on the person’s chest that measures the rhythm and average of the breaths. I calibrate the device to the individual’s body parameters.
The person chooses a drawing tool from the available pens and markers. Each participant is given an individual drawing area from a roll of paper.
The experience begins by closing the eyes and playing a recording with instructions introducing the participant to the meditation-drawing exercise. It begins by doing about 10 minutes of mindfulness practice of wandering through body sensations by using the breath. This is followed by a further 10 minutes of drawing with eyes closed and with attentiveness to the sensations coming from the body. The experience ends with slowly moving out of the meditative state and opening the eyes.
During the event, it is also possible to view a projection of digital graphics that have been generated from the breath data of participants in drawing sessions in Poland.

Session dates must be booked by emailing info@zaratan.pt.
