We are pleased to inaugurate "Losing Count," a new edition of the exhibition that celebrates Zaratan's vitality and artistic journey through its vast and growing collection of risograph posters. The show brings together over 200 works, a constantly evolving archive representing dozens of artists from multiple countries and diverse creative areas.
The new title of the exhibition reflects, with humor and literality, the exuberance of our own archive. After more than a decade of continuous programming, the volume of events, residencies, and collaborations that have passed through Zaratan has multiplied to such an extent that it has become almost impossible to quantify our own history with exactitude. More than a lapse, "losing count" translates the density of a living and constantly expanding archive: it means that the printing machine never stopped, that experimentation continues, and that the community of artists around us does not cease to grow and produce new visual memories.
Produced in small runs, these posters function as physical extensions of collaborations, residencies, performances, or concerts. They were designed to solidify often ephemeral experiences, leaving a tangible trail that encapsulates the creative energy of unique and unrepeatable encounters. By exhibiting them side by side, we superimpose the layers of hundreds of stories, creating a collective panorama where individual creations interact, vibrate together, and reflect Zaratan's resilient trajectory.
This collection reveals the strategies that characterize our modus operandi. Experimentation manifests itself in the invitation to musicians, writers, and performers to venture into visual creation, activating innovative dialogues outside their comfort zones. Alongside this, a certain anonymity in presentation sometimes detaches works from stricter authorship questions, valuing the collective voice and the result of a shared creative process. The result is a vibrant archive, documenting not only two-dimensional works but the noise, encounters, and exchanges of an entire decade of creation in community.
The exhibition also functions as a fundraising initiative to support Zaratan's continuous activity, with all posters displayed available for sale for 20€ each.
