Zaratan – Arte Contemporânea presents STRATIGRAPHY, an Open Studio exhibition by artist-in-residence Daniel Onofreichuk-Demyan. Developed during his one-month residency, the project features a series of paintings, prints, and video art that act as a continuation of his work exploring inward and outward perceptions and memories.
STRATIGRAPHY questions the process of growth through personal and shared memories, asking if a person remains the same or becomes a remade individual over time. Especially in our present lives of shared digital memories and collective thought, the exhibition explores what clues can be unearthed from our conscious and unconscious to reinforce our identity. The resulting pictures serve not only as a self-reflection of inward memories but also as an outward observation.
The creation of this work emerged from different avenues of ideation. While some pieces were processed through composition and drawing, others came through the reflection of faint memories that persist. This artistic process aligns with the excavation of an archaeological site—finding fragments and clues of a past that piece together the intricate story of a person's journey.

BIO | DANIEL ONOFREICHUK-DEMYAN is a New York City based Interdisciplinary artist, pursuing a BFA in Painting at Pratt Institute. Growing up practicing both visual arts and classical music, he uses both practices to inform his ongoing series of inward and outward perceptions, memories, and humane instincts.
